Sonny and Cher open the show with a lively performance of “It Takes Two,” dressed in coordinating maroon outfits, with Cher visibly showing her pregnancy. Their banter is playful but pointed, with Sonny acknowledging their first episode’s success and joking about Gregg Allman’s presence backstage. Raymond Burr joins them for a Monty Python-esque sketch about returning a defective pet rock, setting the stage for the night’s mix of surreal humor and classic variety fare. Sonny’s recurring “Sam Spade” skit takes him to 1930s Morocco, where Cher, in a glamorous yellow dress, hires him to solve “The Case of the Missing Case,” culminating in a hilariously anticlimactic reveal. Cher’s solo, “Your Precious Love,” features her in a flowing white gown amid lush foliage, evoking a dreamlike wedding atmosphere. The “Charlie Brown & Lucy” segment returns, introducing bite-sized comedy bits, including Cher as Tonto and Sonny as Kemosabe, which cleverly subverts Western tropes. The concert segment features “I Can See Clearly Now,” with Cher in a yellow polka-dotted pantsuit and Sonny delivering an unexpectedly funny shoulder shake. In a highlight, Sonny and Cher struggle to introduce Raymond Burr without cracking up, leading to a blooper reel moment that captures their natural chemistry. Burr then delivers a dramatic, spoken-word rendition of “Windmills of My Mind.” The night’s big set piece, “The Monstrel Show Musical,” casts Cher, Sonny, and Burr as vampires, with Cher delighting in a red-streaked wig and gothic gown. They parody classic horror tropes with puns, including a “Who’s on First?” spoof, “The Great Ghoulo,” and an invisible man voiced by Richard Lewis. Cher, as the delightfully eerie Vampira, cackles her way through “Things That Go Bump in the Night” with animated skeletons, before the cast closes with “Sittin’ Sippin’ Blood.” The show wraps with a spirited “I Got You Babe,” as Sonny fixes Cher’s hair and she claps loudly through their signature send-off, blending nostalgia, comedy, and campy fun.
