Cher kicks off the season finale with a spirited performance of “Great Balls of Fire,” shedding a sheer beaded wrap to reveal a butterfly-inspired halter gown reminiscent of her 1974 Grammy dress. In her monologue, she fields unaired audience questions from the season, playfully addressing rumors about her dating life, measurements, and supposed romance with Elvis Presley, while jokingly claiming she’s now “going with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.” She confirms her show has been renewed, introduces her mother and sister on stage, and admits that seeing her own face on magazine covers makes her want to throw up. Carol Burnett appears in the audience, accusing Cher of stealing her Q&A segment before tugging her ear in mock protest. In “Life with Laverne,” Olivia (Teri Garr) laments her husband’s complaints about her cooking, prompting Laverne to offer hilarious advice on how to make dinner more appealing—mostly by turning off the lights. The Hudson Brothers perform “Rendezvous” before Cher and Art Carney deliver a playful rendition of “My Blue Heaven,” with Carney incorporating comedic mugging between jazzy interludes. Cher dons a bright yellow stewardess uniform for a skit about a no-frills airline, cutting costs on everything from seats to trained pilots. Chaz Bono appears in a charming sketch where he outsmarts Carney’s balloon vendor, ultimately using a balloon to fix a bike tire and demanding her money back. Carney later challenges Cher to keep a straight face while he tries to make her laugh, with Cher barely holding it together. In “Flashback Theater,” Cher narrates a farcical history of false teeth, leading to a series of increasingly ridiculous period-piece skits involving Carney, Garr, and the Hudson Brothers. her delivers a stirring gospel medley of “My Sweet Lord” and “Oh, Happy Day,” belting alongside a choir and the show’s band, all wearing black Cher-logo T-shirts. She then presides as a judge in a chaotic courtroom sketch that devolves into an earthquake when divine intervention is needed. The finale, “Hernando’s Hideaway,” is a flamenco-go-go mashup, with Cher dazzling in an orange fringe dress, dancing with matadors before leading a Soul Train-style line. The episode closes with Cher bringing out all her guests, including Chaz, for another dance train, ending the season on a high-energy note.
