Cher opens the show with a lively rendition of “There’ll Be Some Changes Made,” wearing a dramatic yellow feather cape that she throws off to reveal a dazzling cut-out pantsuit. In her monologue, she jokes about her struggle with telling jokes, attributing her comedy skills to producer George Schlatter and cue card writer Larry. Anthony Newley performs “Quilip” before joining Cher for a duet of “Take a Little Dab of Hope.” Tina Turner commands the stage with a powerhouse performance of “River Deep, Mountain High,” followed by Ike and Tina’s high-energy “Baby, Get It On.” In a comedic sketch, Cher, wearing a bobbed wig, attempts to draw deep thoughts out of Ike, but the bit takes an odd turn when his thoughts are humorously dubbed over with a Jewish accent. Cher and Newley then portray a nouveau riche couple dealing with the absurdity of having their car stolen for ransom. Cher performs a sultry version of Labelle’s “You Turn Me On,” before teaming up with Tina for a fantastic duet of “Give Me the Country Side of Life,” dressed in jeans and matching feathered halter tops, swinging their microphones and dancing in sync. Newley returns to spoof bad music by pitching an album of the “worst 100 songs.” The grand finale is an electrifying gospel revival tribute, starting with Newley’s theatrical take on “Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show,” before Cher and Tina take over with the rollicking “Resurrection Shuffle.” The entire cast joins in for “Saved,” with Cher and Tina pushing each other to new heights, culminating in Cher looking exhausted but exhilarated. The episode closes with a reprise of “Saved,” with Cher, Turner, and Newley leading a full-ensemble celebration.
