Cher pays tribute to ’50s and ’60s rock and pop legends in a nostalgia-packed episode, opening with a medley of “An Old Fashioned Love Song” and “I Dig Rock and Roll Music.” She dazzles in a yellow pantsuit adorned with a giant sunflower, shaking and clapping her way through a flower-filled stage. In her monologue, she jokes about the slang of the 1960s, setting the tone for an evening full of musical throwbacks.
The show features a beach party spoof complete with motorcycle greasers, an illiterate football player, and a “Mr. Nice Guy,” followed by Pat Boone performing “Magnificent Sanctuary Band” and dueting with Cher on “I Lost My Mind.” Frankie Valli delivers his 1975 hit “Swearin’ to God” and classic “My Eyes Adored You,” dripping in gold jewelry. Frankie Avalon sings “One Hell of a Woman” and later plays a slow-witted student in a school skit, while Dion performs “The Wanderer” before joining Cher for a soulful rendition of “Abraham, Martin and John” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”
For the grand finale, Cher stuns in a black-and-gold fringe halter pantsuit, leading a staircase medley with the guest stars. She kicks it off with another round of “I Dig Rock and Roll Music,” followed by solo performances from Boone, Avalon, Valli, and Dion, each revisiting their biggest hits. Cher joins Avalon for a nose-holding version of “De De Dinah” and sings alongside Dion on “Runaround Sue” after he humorously critiques the alphabet-heavy lyrics of ’50s songs. In a nod to her own musical legacy, she throws in “All I Really Want to Do” and a halfheartedly lip-synced version of “The Beat Goes On” before closing the show with all the guests in a final reprise of “I Dig Rock and Roll Music.” The episode delivers a fun, nostalgic look at the golden age of rock and pop.
